We headed to London for Yusaira's 19th birthday and it was sweet! Breakfast, the first meal spent in Dishoom we all ordered the 'Kejriwal' a classic fried-eggs-on-toast kinda situation with their tea of course. Covent Garden, an embodiment of Instagram perfection at its finest, it's practically covered in flowers from flower walls, to flower covered bicycles and benches too. We visited the Ordinary and to my surprise it was a lot smaller than originally imagined but then again most shops in Covent Garden are little boutiques with just enough space for a handful of people. Our next stop was Oxford Street for nothing other than shopping and food. Late lunch/ early dinner was spent in Burgeri, a must for anyone who likes burgers. The last hour was spent in Carnaby, another area adorned in flowers and admirable street art.
This years Eid was different to the previous ones in a number of ways. The first being timing usually all the Eid baking is in full swing and complete hours before but this year we were decorating and baking to the last hour leading up to Iftar and after. Secondly, we only celebrated the first day of Eid which was a bittersweet feeling because while we usually complain about celebrating Eid for a whole 3 days this year it was truly missed. Aside from that Eid was still great, it was nice spending it with extended family with amazing food & even better company.
Coach, a designer brand I had promised myself that I would purchase something from as a little treat to myself for my birthday. I guess birthdays come early sometimes, sometimes a little too early. I love the whole idea behind the brand of creating something so beautiful out of something equally beautiful. Here's my little run down on the bag and what I adore about it! I purchased the Swagger bag 20, a compact version of the original featuring a pebble leather with a turnlock closure.
What I love:
+ The fact that it's black
+ The gold hardware, it's heavy, it's matte & it's the perfect shade of gold
+ The amount of detail from the bag itself to the inner linings & even the strap
+ Made out of leather, is super hardwearing
+ It's the perfect size for your phone, wallet and a few other odd pieces
+ The price point, it's not the cheapest or the most expensive
+ The structure of the bag
+ The turnlock closure is so cool
As you may have noticed I went a little M.I.A during the month of May because let's face it there's one reason and one reason only and that is EXAMS! I am more than happy to be done with my first year law exams at University and to say the least I do not miss them one bit. This year was a little different with regards to exams but also very much the same, for instance my exams were all 3 hours and 25 minutes long which was slightly terrifying but manageable as they were all spaced out rather nicely.
A little early birthday celebration for one of my friends at University. I honestly have had the best first year experience and I hold that all to the great friends I've made. Who you surround yourself with makes the biggest difference and has the biggest impact on you as a person.
May was also the month where we started fasting for Ramadan. Unlike previous Ramadans I had only 1 exam while fasting but this year was different because I was also working while fasting which has been a little difficult at times but again manageable. My best friend also baked me the tastiest cupcakes, I loved the chocolate ones with a peanut butter centre.
To commemorate finishing first year of law school, doing exams and Ramadan festivities with the added early birthday celebration I treated myself to my first ever big designer purchase from Coach. I told myself near my birthday I would buy myself something from Coach because of how much I adore their brand, I guess it came a little early.
A Sunday off work means nothing more than baking cookies and relaxing. I opted for triple chocolate chip cookies this time and they turned out great! I regret only having one after breaking my fast and wish I had one during Sehri, oh well. I have missed blogging that is for sure but I can't wait to post more, also I have a few posts planned for Eid fingers crossed I actually follow through with them.
